Elders

Each congregation of the Lord's Church is under the oversight of a group of men called Elders. Since every congregation is autonomous, these men make the decisions for the congregation in accordance with the scriptures. The Bible tells about this work in 1 Timothy 3:1-7, and Titus 1:5-9.

The Hamilton Church of Christ is under the oversight of three men.  Our elders work together in leading the congregation on our path towards Heaven.

Barry Kerr

Elder

I have been a member of the Hamilton congregation since my family moved back to Hamilton in 2010. I have served as an elder since 2019. Prior to serving as an elder, I served as a deacon for 8 years. I have been married to Amy Wooten Kerr for 27 years, and we have two children: Kennedy and Ty. Kennedy is married and lives in Henderson, TN, and Ty attends Freed-Hardeman University. I hold a Bachelor's degree in Physical Education and a Master's in School  Counseling from Freed-Hardeman University. I teach K-4 PE at Hamilton Elementary School and am part of the varsity football team coaching staff. I also serve on the Board of Directors of Maywood Christian Camp. I enjoy Alabama football, spending time with my family, and doing the Lord's work.

I’ve attended the Hamilton Church of Christ  during multiple periods since I was around 5 years old.  I’m married to a wonderful lady (Kristi) and have been blessed with two great children (Blake & Rebecca).  I’m currently retired from the military with 36 years total service (Active duty 20 years, Reserve 16 years).  During my service I primarily worked in multiple Engineering fields, but also served/trained as a Recruiter, Administration/HR, and Infantryman. Prior to the events on 9/11/2001, I was the Engineer for Buccaneer Homes. In that position, I managed the Engineering Department and designed and drew the plans for all homes constructed in our three production facilities. I’ve always enjoyed serving others, and making a positive difference in peoples lives. I believe this is the most important thing when it comes to service as a deacon, the military, and life. I am truly blessed to have this opportunity to serve this church and community.
